Saxapahaw, N.C. -- The Alamance County Sheriff's Office says a man stole four kayaks from a local canoe shop and got caught trying to sell them on Craigslist.
The sheriff's office said deputies arrested 22-year-old Devon Thomas Lepsch with felony larceny and felony attempt to obtain property by false pretense.
On Aug. 11, the Haw River Canoe and Kayak Company in Saxapahaw reported to the sheriff's office four kayaks had been stolen sometime the night before.
Then, Aug. 12, investigators received information about a Craigslist advertisement showing four kayaks up for sale. The sheriff's office said it set up a meeting between the Craigslist seller, and investigators found the kayaks for sale were the same kayaks stolen.
The sheriff's office took Lepsch to the Alamance County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.
