Popular broadcast journalist Julie Luck appears weeknights on WFMY News 2 at 5, 6 and 11pm. The award-winning journalist partners with newscaster Frank Mickens, giving WFMY News 2 viewers the Triad's top evening anchor team.
The Emmy-nominated anchor/reporter spent seven years covering local TV news throughout the Greensboro - High Point - Winston-Salem market before joining WFMY News 2 in 2013. She won multiple awards for her in-depth series on teen pregnancy and has been voted favorite local newscaster in numerous polls over the last decade. Newscasts she co-anchored have won prestigious Emmy awards for breaking news and best newscast. A tidbit of trivia, Julie was chosen by Hollywood producers to play herself as a newscaster in the movie, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the Lightning Thief.
A broadcast journalist with close to 20 years of on-air experience, Julie packed up her belongings many times while climbing the media markets across the country. Julie anchored the weekend news in San Francisco before moving to the Triad. She also worked in Portland, Oregon, Florence-Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Bangor, Maine. Her moving days ended when she arrived in the Triad - the place she has come to love and call her true home.
Born in Southern California to Chinese and Filipino parents, Julie was raised in Orange County. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor's degree and earned her master's degree in mass communications from Emerson College in Boston. Julie is also a former Miss Asian California and Miss Congeniality.
An avid sports fan, Julie watches college and NFL football games in her spare time. In fact, she was a cheerleader while attending UC Berkeley as well as a pro cheerleader for the NBA's Golden State Warriors. She also enjoys jogging, cooking, traveling and spending quality time with her husband, John, and their four-legged children, Emma the bulldog and Lambert the cocker spaniel.
