SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — The shelter in place for North Surry High School has been lifted Tuesday.

School officials said they received an anonymous tip from the school's tip line that there was a potential weapon on campus shortly before 10 a.m.

The principal immediately placed the school on lockdown to investigate along with the Surry County Sheriff's Office.

School officials said law enforcement acted quickly and around 10:15 a.m. they moved the school from lockdown into shelter in place while continuing to investigate.

The shelter in place was lifted shortly before 12 p.m. and nothing was found, according to school officials.

The school has resumed normal operations.
