CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Hornets announced the team will be without head coach Steve Clifford to address his health Wednesday morning.
The Hornets said there is no timetable for his return but his leave will be effective immediately.
Hornets associate head coach Stephen Silas will serve as the acting head coach.
The Hornets enter Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors with a 9-13 record this season.
