Guilford County WIC Program goes mobile

This mobile unit will provide food, breastfeeding support and healthcare referrals for women, infants and children.

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A new mobile resource is coming to Guilford County for women, infants and children.

WIC is a federal aid program that helps mothers feed their children.

This mobile unit will provide food, breastfeeding support, and healthcare referrals for women, infants and children in the community.

WIC caseworkers and nutritionists will staff the unit.

The WIC mobile unit will make its first stop at the High Point Library on North Main Street from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 23.

New and returning patients can use the services. You can schedule appointments or just walk up to the clinic.

Here are the requirements to be eligible for the program:

  • Be a pregnant woman; a breastfeeding woman who has had a baby in the last 12 months; a woman who has had a baby in the last six months; an infant; or a child under 5 years
  • Reside in North Carolina
  • Meet income eligibility requirements: The gross annual household income cannot exceed 185% of the Federal poverty income guidelines; All Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services (food stamps) and Work First recipients automatically meet the WIC income eligibility criteria
  • Have an identified nutritional risk as determined by a health professional.
