12:45 p.m. - Coronavirus numbers temporarily decrease

NCDHHS said Coronavirus numbers are taking an artificial decrease due to a slight change in the time frame. The data will cover 10 hours instead of 24. We've explained this in detail in a separate article. So Cases appear to have taken an artificial dip.

New COVID-19 cases: 1,779

Currently hospitalized: 1,423

Daily percent positive: 8%

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2020

2:00 p.m. - NCDHHS press conference. Dr. Mandy Cohen and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services provides updates on the state's response to the coronavirus.

12:00 p.m. - North Carolina hospitalizations continue to rise.

New COVID-19 cases decreased only slightly from the record-high Wednesday.

Newly-confirmed cases: 2,893

Total cases (including presumed recoveries) since March: 303,454

Current statewide hospitalizations (third-straight day above 1,200): 1,279

Percent positive: 7.9% of tests conducted on Nov. 11.

Hospitalizations have increased every day since Nov. 4, now totaling 94 patients being treated for coronavirus.

On Thursday, there are 90 patients, 73 of whom are at the Green Valley COVID campus (formerly Women’s Hospital), hospital officials said. COVID-19 patients at other campuses typically get transferred to Green Valley, unless they need specialized care, i.e. pregnant women. The Green Valley recently has expanded its capacity from 96 to 116 beds, according to health officials.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2020

12:00 p.m. - North Carolina reached a new record for COVID-19 cases in a single day on Wednesday. The state health department reported 3,119 new cases. It's the first time we've topped 3,000 cases in a day and beats the previous record set last Friday of more than 2,900.

STATEWIDE DATA:

  • New cases confirmed Wednesday: 3,119
  • Total cases since pandemic started: 300,561
  • Total deaths: 4,698
  • Current hospitalizations: 1,246
  • Percent positive: 7.9% (as of 11/9)

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2020

3:30 p.m. - Gov. Roy Cooper announces North Carolina will remain under phase 3 restrictions. He also announced the indoor gathering limit will be limited to 10 people beginning on Friday, Nov. 13.

RELATED: North Carolina will remain under Phase 3, indoor gatherings limited to 10 people

3:00 p.m. - Gov. Roy Cooper and the coronavirus task force will give an update on the virus at 3 p.m. COVID-19 cases are on the rise in North Carolina as the state's Phase 3 order is set to expire on Friday. Cooper could give an update on restrictions and reopening during Monday's news conference. In his last public briefing, Cooper said he has no intention of moving backward in the reopening process.

12:00 p.m. -- NCDHHS released the latest COVID-19 data for the state. It was another high day for new cases with more than 2,500 but does not meet the record of more than 2,900 that we reached Friday. Guilford County has the most COVID cases and deaths of Triad counties, but it's also the largest Triad county, and NCDHHS classifies COVID data by county of residence, not necessarily where the person got sick, is getting treatment or died.

STATEWIDE DATA

  • New cases confirmed Tuesday: 2,582
  • Total cases since pandemic started: 297,442
  • Total deaths: 4,660
  • Current hospitalizations: 1,230 (highest in more than a month)
  • Percent positive: 7.5% (from 11/8)

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2020

12:00 p.m. - NCDHHS announced the latest COVID-19 numbers. There were 1,521 new cases on Monday. Mondays are typically low case confirmation days due to low testing over the weekend. The extended Phase 3 expires Friday unless repealed or revised by Gov. Roy Cooper. Guilford County Schools will have a board meeting Tuesday about re-entry.

Starting Monday, Cone Health’s fixed COVID-19 testing sites will operate from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Cone Health officials said fixed testing sites are those at Alamance Regional Medical Center, Annie Penn Hospital and Cone Health Green Valley campus.

Officials said mobile sites have their own hours and are not impacted by this change. Fixed sites screen people coming into a hospital or clinic for an operation or a procedure and provide public COVID-19 testing.

Public COVID-19 testing is at no cost to patients, though people with insurance should bring their card. Insurance coverage is not required.

Cone Health officials said people who have a negative COVID-19 test do not need another for 14 days after, and said people coming for testing should remain in their car and wear a mask.

A swab will be used to collect a sample and test results should be available in about 4 to 5 business days. Testing is available for both adults and children.
