GREENSBORO, N.C. — When you think about skin cancer, you often think of the summer and sunny days. However, Dr. Jennifer David with Cone Health Dermatology says we need to think about it year-round, even in the winter.
According to Cone Health, skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States. When caught early, skin cancer has a 98% cure rate. That is why doctors stress the importance of regular examinations and tell your primary care provider or dermatologist about abnormal skin growths especially if they change color, size, shape, or appearance.
Cone Health does offer free skin cancer screenings. All adults and children who haven't seen a dermatologist within the last year can register. Learn more here.
