GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A soccer tournament is bringing a lot of people and money to the Triad over Memorial Day weekend.
The Wrangler, McDonald's Soccer Tournament is being held at the Bryan Park Soccer Complex Saturday and Sunday.
Pete Polonsky, Executive Director, Greensboro United Soccer Association, says this two-day tournament is expected to bring in an estimated $2 million to the area.
"This is one of the largest tournaments in the state of North Carolina and even the Southeast region," said Polonsky.
He added, "Last year we had 308 teams from 6 different states so this year we have a good 60 more teams, so it's very exciting to see the growth. This tournament continues to grow every single year so it's very exciting for the city of Greensboro."
Organizers estimate an estimate 3,000 hotel rooms were booked in the Triad because of this tournament.
