For starters, the opening shots of the nearly 8-minute video show Davie County High School, the town of Bermuda Run welcome sign and the Davie County Courthouse along with the theme song to 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The rest of the video has sheriff's office employees jammin' out to The Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" along with various reenactments of typical police calls. There's an unruly suspect shown riding in the back of a police car, a peek inside the jail after an arrest is made and a staged vehicle chase. It's all done in fun, as most #lipsyncchallenge videos are.

Sgt. Mike Butero, a 12-year Davie County Sheriff's Office veteran, conceived the idea behind the video and said he spent seven weeks working on it.

"My idea was to show what we go through on a regular night on patrol," Butero said. "When you work nights, you want to have as good a night as you can so you can get home safe. We obviously wanted to add humor to it like everyone else has done."

The Davie Co. High School Dancing Boots, Mocksville Fire Department, Davie Co. EMS, Davie Co. Rescue Squad and a Davie Co. Magistrate all made cameos. Part of the video was filmed in the downtown Mocksville square with people from town.

Wednesday morning, Butero said the video's gotten nearly 50,000 views since posting it Tuesday night.

"The video stresses the fact that we're people just like anybody else," Butero said. "It's really made a huge turnaround in people's perception of cops. These [lip sync videos] have been really positive."

At the end of the video, Davie Co. Sheriff J.D. Hartman challenges Mocksville police to post a video of their own.

"Since we work closely with them, we had to call them out," Butero joked. "I hope they make one."
