Earlier start date approved for Lexington students

Lexington City Schools have approved the 2024-2025 school calendar.

LEXINGTON, N.C. — Lexington City Schools is the latest Triad district to defy state law and opt to send students back earlier in the school year.

District leaders announced the approval for the 2024-2025 school calendar.

According to the new schedule, students will return to school on August 12, almost two weeks before the original start date on the traditional calendar.

Leaders say the changes gained final approval at a board meeting on March 5.
