Southwest Guilford High Senior Accepted Into 17 Colleges

Southwest Guilford Senior Kristen Starks said she cast a pretty wide net when applying to schools, everywhere from Davidson and Duke to Wake Forest and Johns Hopkins.

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- One college acceptance letter is impressive enough but 17, that’s a lot of decisions to make!

That’s the number of colleges a High Point student will need to consider as she narrows down the choices of where she’ll spend her next four years.

Southwest Guilford High Senior, Kristen Starks, said she cast a pretty wide net when applying to schools, everywhere from Davidson and Duke to Wake Forest and Johns Hopkins.

She never imagined this response with letter after letter, pouring in over the past few months.

“It's nice to see that all of the hard work from the four years of high school paying off, so I'm very thankful and very blessed.”

Almost every school offered her some sort of scholarship or financial aid. Starks isn't one to brag. She credits her parents, teachers, and mentors for all their constant support.

She'll make a decision, at the end of this month. But, her top five are Duke, Wake Forest, University of Richmond, Williams College in Massachusetts, and Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.
