GREENSBORO, N.C. — There’s always that one special teacher, cafeteria worker, custodian, principal, SRO that truly makes a difference. Now you have a chance to honor a school hero and you could even win some cold hard cash.
The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) is hosting a special School Hero contest. By sharing your story about a School Hero, you could help them and their school each win a $10,000 prize. If the person you nominate is one of the 10 winners, you’ll get a $1,000 check.
You can nominate a School Hero who has made a difference in your life or the lives of your students, HERE. Voting ends March 31, 2019.
To date, more than 1,300 nominations have already been posted at the N.C. School Heroes website.
Of the 1,300 nominations, there has been at least one from 86 of North Carolina’s 100 counties.
There are also thousands of votes already accumulated for the most popular School Hero stories!
Money raised by the lottery helps school staff and also is used to build and repairs schools, supports N.C. Pre-K program for at-risk kids, college scholarships and grants, and also school transportation, according to the NCEL.
