RALEIGH, N.C. — U.S. News & World Report announced Tuesday its annual rankings for the country's colleges and universities.
Of the 16 four-year institutions, three — Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill and Wake Forest University — rank among the top 50 national universities. North Carolina State University is the only other N.C. school ranked in the top 100.
Wake Forest (35th), Duke (16th) and UNC-Chapel Hill (14th) are among the top 50 schools in terms of "best value."
The top-ranked national university in the rankings was Princeton. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard, Stanford and Yale rounded out the top five.
UNC-Chapel Hill ranked fifth in the list of top public schools, trailing behind UCLA, UC Berkeley, Michigan and Virginia.
