GREENSBORO, N.C. — Guilford County Schools superintendent, Dr. Whitney Oakley, appointed several new positions on Tuesday, March 19.
Tyler Beck is GCS's new chief financial officer. He previously held the CFO role at Davidson County Schools since 2017. He's also the vice president of the North Carolina Association of School Business Officials (NCASBO).
Marcie Beard will be joining GCS as a principal supervisor. She previously served as executive director and principal supervisor in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS). She also was the principal of Cabarrus County Schools for six years.
Angela Polk-Jones will be the new director of athletics and driver’s education. She was the principal of the Middle College at GTCC-High Point since 2020 and before that, she was the principal of the Early College at Guilford and founding principal of the Middle College at UNCG.
Thea McHam will be taking over as the new principal of the Middle College at GTCC-High Point. She was previously the principal at John R. Kernodle Middle since 2010.
Charnelle Shephard will be taking over as the new principal of Kernodle Middle. She was the assistant principal at Penn-Griffin School for the Arts since 2018 and spent five years as an assistant principal at Southern High. She was also a finalist for assistant principal of the year in 2021-22.
