GREENSBORO, N.C. — Guilford County School juniors could earn money for college just by planning for college.
Students just have to complete six steps in the College Board Opportunity Scholarships - a program just for the Class of 2020. Building a college list could earn you $500, and practicing for the SAT could earn you $1,000. Some students could even get up to $40,000.
Guilford County Schools is one of only 29 districts in the country and the only one in North Carolina to participate in the scholarship challenge.
Guilford County Schools says there are no GPA or family income requirements for students to participate.
Scholarships are awarded every month through June 2019. On the drawing dates, 100 students will be randomly selected to receive a $500 scholarship. According to the College Board Opportunity Scholarships website, 50 of those scholarships will go to students whose families earn less than $60,000 per year.
