GREENSBORO, N.C. — Trade schools are destinations for those hoping to get hands on experience for jobs in specific fields.
Triad students are getting the opportunity to learn these skills before they graduate.
The Guilford County Choice Showcase where students get a sneak peak into picking the educational path that's right for them!
Here in Mr. Bank's cybersecurity and artificial intelligence class.
Students are learning to make robots move, talk, and even behave like a dog.
"It gives students exposure to those types of learning that they might not have until they get to college," Christopher Banks, CTE Teacher at Northeast Guilford High School said.
And the power of choice when it comes to what they learn.
Northeast Guilford Senior Tayana Joseph has been in the Guilford County schools choice program for three years—
She chose the cybersecurity track. One of 60 innovative programs at GCS preparing students for future jobs.
"We're learning like how to protect people and prevent vulnerabilities in the computer system. we work in groups and have like an attacker and someone who's going to help protect the system," Joseph said.
Plus, its teaching a valuable lesson to the dangers of being online.
"It allows you to know what to do and what not to do online."
"The kids really love some of the activities we do in class like right now we are programming the robots to learn and do some autonomous things."
Mr. Banks is making sure every student is inspired to prepare and create the world they want to live in.
