Davidson County Schools Names New Superintendent

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Davidson County Schools appointed a new superintendent in a Board of Education meeting on Tuesday.

Dr. Emily Lipe was named Superintendent of Davidson County School System.

Before this, Dr. Lipe served as Interim Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.

Dr. Lipe has been with Davidson County Schools for 27 years. She has served as a high school English teacher, a middle school assistant principal, and elementary principal, principal of two different high schools, and the director of secondary education. She also has two children who went to school in Davidson County.

“It is an honor to be selected by our Board of Education as the next superintendent of Davidson County Schools," said Lipe. "I look forward to working with all DCS students, parents and staff to continue the exceptional work that is being done in our district.”

Dr. Lipe earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from High Point University and both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in English with a concentration in Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Selected as a North Carolina Principal Fellow, she also earned a second Master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
