It's time to 'Bust The Bus' and help kids in the Triad

BackPack Beginnings is helping to feed and get school supplies for thousands of Triad kids who need your help.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — It's a creative way to help kids in the Triad get the much-needed school supplies and bridge the summer food gap.

"We'll be accepting donations on the bus. We want to bust this bus with school supplies, even canned food. Families need that food for the summertime, and as those grocery prices go up, their food needs go up as well," said Mallory Goodman with BackPack Beginnings. When the kids are home more, they need food, school supplies, any children's used clothing, toys, and anything that could help a child here locally in Guilford County. "

BackPack Beginnings also threw in some fun as well and a chance to win prizes.

"If you bring in at least five donations, you get an opportunity to spin the wheel inside the Grasshopper's game." continued Goodman, "There's going to be gift cards from local businesses. There's going to be Babes Bucks  where you can win. All types of great prizes. You can do a twenty-dollar donation and get one spin. A fifty-dollar donation gets three spins. There's a lot of opportunity here."

"We connect children and their families to resources needed to thrive. So, we get basic resources out to people in the community who have children under the age of eighteen in their homes. Over 23,000 children locally a year get resources from Backpack Beginnings and all the work that we do and it's such a community effort. We're so thankful," said Goodman.

If you're interested, the Bust The Bus event is Thursday night from 5:30 to 7 at the Hoppers stadium. Just look for the huge school bus on Bellemeade Street.
