GREENSBORO, NC – Two students from High Point Central are being recognized statewide for their outstanding sportsmanship.
Every year, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association selects 19 student athletes from across the state and gives them a ‘Heart Of A Champion’ award.
This year Ryan Darden, a junior, and Lauren Dulin, a sophomore, were one of the few selected. Both athletes play soccer for the school.
“Lauren and Ryan are exceptional young adults and are great examples of our student-athletes at High Point Central,” says soccer coach Daniel Villa.
The award is given to athletes who have participated in at least one varsity sport and have not gotten ejected from a game. The students must also exemplify outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship.
"We are continuing our emphasis on sportsmanship and the important lessons high school athletics teach,” said NCHSAA Commissioner Que Tucker. "We are proud of the achievements of this select group of student-athletes, both on and off the field."
The award is sponsored by the North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company.
