Dame's Chicken & Waffles One Of Many Businesses Stepping Up To Help Federal Workers

Several Triad businesses are helping out furloughed federal workers!

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Few meals are as great as those that Dam's Chicken & Waffles has to offer!

A nice warm waffle and a perfectly cooked piece of chicken and you're in heaven.

Some people who aren't in heaven right now are furloughed government workers.

With no clear end date in sight, a lot of furloughed workers are starting to panic.

In moments like these, every act of kindness helps to ease the pain.

That' why Dame's Chicken and Waffles will show their appreciation for unpaid TSA workers by proving them with a complimentary feast.

The feast will take place on Tuesday, January 28 at the Piedmont Triad International Airport at 10:45 a.m.

The meal will be specifically for TSA workers who have been showing up for work during the shutdown.

Wednesday, the Dames Chicken & Waffles Facebook page shared pictures of a spread they had prepared for TSA workers at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

In a press release from Dame's, they stated that they... 'understand that TSA officers and air traffic controllers are facing financial difficulties but continue to work for the greater good and public safety. This meal is the restaurant's way of saying thank you.

1618 Resturant

But Dame's isn't the only business making it their responsibility to step up and help furloughed workers.

Just this week, the 1618 restaurant in downtown Greensboro invited furloughed workers to dine for free on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday.

All the workers had to do was provide their government ID for a free dinner!

Temple Emanuel

Temple Emanuel in Winston-Salem decided the best way they could give back is by buying $20 Target Gift cards for every TSA agent at PTI Airport in Greensboro.

"Myself and so many of us feel really helpless -- what can we do? I'm not on the floor of the house of representatives, I can certainly call my representative but what can I do for somebody? I would say the moment is really kind of humbling. To hear those personal stories of what people are going through to make ends meet," said Mark Cohn, the Rabbi at Temple Emanuel.

Sky Zone Trampoline Park

Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Greensboro is also giving back! They're letting Federal Employees come with their families and jump for one hour for free.

"Their reaction is just really thanking us and an understanding of their tough situation they're going through right now. These furloughed employees might be in a tough financial situation but this at least gives them an opportunity to not worry about that at least for an hour of the day," said Stephanie Stierle, the Marketing and Events Manager for SkyZone Greensboro.
