Police said 7 bikes and a shotgun were stolen from the store on May 14.

WFMY News 2 talked with the store co-owner, Dolly Jennings.

"First of all you have very bad emotions for a minute because you’re so disgusted somebody would do that," Jennings said. "Then it took almost a day away from us working."

She said her store was broken into in a bizarre way.

"Broke in through a front window on Main Street which is unbelievable in this day and age but they did it," Jennings said. "They had a huge rock, and when I say huge I’m not talking about a little pebble."

Jennings said 7 bikes were stolen in total.

"5 have been recovered out of 7, and we feel sure they will find the other two,"

Jennings said the five that were recovered are in pretty rough shape, all scratched up. But says she has no doubt the remaining two will be found, because they are electric bikes with serial numbers on them.

"People don’t realize that every bicycle has a serial number."

The bikes are worth thousands of dollars. But prices aside, a dangerously valuable item was also stolen from the store.

"They did pick up a few other things in the store – one of the things was our son Dale's brand new shotgun."

Dale said he learned a valuable lesson from High Point Police: guns belong in safes.

According to Dale, the shotgun was not for sale. It was his and he brought it to the store to clean it and kept it out of plain sight behind the couch. However, it was still stolen.

Jennings said it took about 6 hours to clean up all the shattered glass, and general mess the thief left behind.

"It took us about 5 or 6 hours to get the store back in order but we’re just grateful everyone is okay."

Jennings is also grateful for all the support from customers and the thousands on social media who shared their post.

UPDATE ON OUR BREAK-IN. The High Point Police Department has made an arrest in our break-in. They have also recovered 5 of the 7 bikes that got stolen. We would like to thank the Police Department...

"The number of people who looked at what was on Facebook, it was shared with over 100,000 people - that is the population of High Point."
