DENTON, N.C. — A woman was rescued from her kidnapper in Rowan County on July 4, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the suspect, John Christopher Yarbrough, allegedly broke into his estranged girlfriend's home in Denton, NC on the night of July 3.
Deputies said Yarbrough had been armed and threatened to kill her several times over text. He had allegedly assaulted the victim numerous times before the incident.
She was forcefully dragged away while her children hid inside the home, deputies said.
The victim was rescued from the Wildlife access off River Road in Rowan County. Deputies arrested Yarbrough and turned him over to Davidson County.
The victim did not appear to have any injuries, deputies said.
Both the Rowan County Sheriff's Office and the Davidson County Sheriff's Office assisted in the search and apprehension.
