WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A woman died two days later after a drive-by shooting in Winston-Salem Friday, according to police.
The Winston-Salem Police Department said it happened around 10:24 p.m. on Oct. 13. When officers arrived at the 1200 block of East Tweety-Third Street about a shooting, they found 39-year-old Natalie Carter and 19-year-old Miya Carter suffering from gunshot wounds.
Natalie Carter was taken to a local hospital and died on Sunday, Oct. 15., according to police.
Investigators said Miya Carter was treated on the scene for minor injuries by EMS.
After an investigation, police said a vehicle pulled up to the 1200 block of Twenty-Third Street while both Natalie Carter and Miya Carter were outside, and a suspect started shooting at them.
Investigators said they believe this was not a random shooting as Natalie Carter and Miya Carter were specifically targeted.
