WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A woman is facing charges after hundreds of people were on the scene of a fight in Winston-Salem.
Winston-Salem police said around 6:40 p.m., Tuesday officers were called to the 1800 block of North Patterson Avenue about a fight with weapons. When officers arrived, they found nearly 200 people in the middle of the street. Due to the number of uncooperative people, additional officers were called to the scene.
Investigators said while officers were outside of their patrol cars trying to break up fights, multiple people began jumping on top of police vehicles. Others stood around to film the incident and post it on social media.
Police said as a result of investigating the incident further Akeeymah Valeria Hargrove was charged Thursday with misdemeanor Resist, Delay, or Obstruct a Public Officer and misdemeanor Impeding the Flow of Traffic.
Officers said Hargrove is scheduled to appear in court June 6.
