Winston-Salem woman pleads guilty to murder for 2020 shooting

She was charged for shooting multiple people during a fight at a residence.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A woman has pled guilty to multiple charges in connection to a 2020 Winston-Salem shooting. 

According to a release from the district attorney's office, Terika Shannail Sims faces charges for second degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officers from the Winston-Salem Police Department said on the day of the shooting they responded to the 900 block of Woodcote Drive. There they found victims Malika Charmane Davis and Tyrone Lamont Davis, brother and sister, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Investigation showed Sims ad gotten into an argument with a relative of Malika and Tyrone Davis before she went to the residence. Upon arrival, Sims got into a physical fight with Malika Davis, during which she shot her. 

Sims then shot Tyrone Davis as he was helping his sister, according to the release. She immediately fled the scene.

Malika Davis died from her injuries. She was 32-years-old. Tyrone Davis was released from the hospital following treatment.

Sims turned herself in to police a month later.

A Forsyth County Superior Judge sentenced Sims to 13 to 17 years in prison.
