Winston-Salem Police investigating shooting outside Carolina Classic Fair

The fair did not stop Sunday night, even after police officers arrived on scene.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — UPDATE

According to Winston-Salem police, two individuals were shot, but their injuries are non-life threatening.

Police arrived to the area of West 27th Street and Boneyard Road in response to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 20-year-old Erik Dominguez suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to the hospital. While officers were still at the scene, a juvenile arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. 

This is an ongoing investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY

The police are investigating a shooting that occurred in an area near the Carolina Classic Fair in Winston-Salem on Sunday night.

Dispatch told WFMY News 2 that officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department were called to the fair at 9:57 p.m. The fair remained open after officers arrived.

WFMY News 2 went to the scene Sunday night and was told by officers that the shooting happened outside of the fairgrounds.

People on scene told WFMY News 2 they heard gunshots and saw people fleeing the area Sunday night.

There is no information about if anyone was struck by gunfire.
