One dead, another injured in West Cornwallis Drive shooting in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man is dead and another person was injured after a shooting on West Cornwallis Drive in Greensboro Friday morning.

Greensboro police said a person arrived at the Greensboro Fire Station 5 at 1401 Westover Terrace suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man said he had been shot at an apartment in the 2200 block of West Cornwallis Drive where there was also another person that had been shot.

The man was then taken to the hospital to be treated. He was then released

Officers responded to the 2200 block of West Cornwallis Drive around 10 a.m. where they found a person suffering from life-threatening injuries. 

Greensboro police identified the person as Christopher Bennet, 30, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No suspect information is available at this time.
