BURLINGTON, N.C. — UPDATE: Burlington police said officers arrested Robert May Saturday in Burlington. He was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center. His bond is set at $25,000.

Police said a registered sex offender is wanted after exposing himself to a woman in a Walmart parking lot in Alamance County Sunday.

The Burlington Police Department said they received a call about indecent exposure to the Walmart located on Graham-Hopedale Road.

When officers arrived, a woman said while she was walking in the parking lot, a man exposed himself to her. Detectives said she was able to get to her car and called 911. The suspect continued to expose himself as he followed her but ran to his truck once realizing the victim was on the phone with 911. When he tried to run, the suspect’s truck backed into the victim’s car, causing minor damage to her vehicle.

Police identified the suspect as 36-year-old Robert May, of Burlington.

Investigators said May was arrested in 2022 for indecent exposure at this same Walmart location and is listed in the national sex offender registry as a lifetime offender.

May is currently wanted on outstanding warrants for indecent exposure, damage to personal property, assault with a deadly weapon, and reckless driving, according to police.

Police described him as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing around 145 pounds with light-colored red-brown hair and hazel eyes. May drives a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado, dark in color, with the front bumper hanging down.

The Burlington Police Department urges anyone with information regarding the location of Robert Lloyd May to call the department or Alamance County Crime Stoppers.
