ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Three DEA agents were injured after a wanted man crashed into their vehicles while trying to escape in Alamance County.
The Alamance County Sheriff's Office said their Street Crimes Unit was assisting the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency with the arrest of Jeremy Townsend, 29, of Graham who had outstanding felony warrants.
Deputies said during the operation, Townsend attempted to escape by driving away and then crashed into two DEA vehicles injuring three DEA agents.
Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Investigators took Townsend into custody without further incident.
Investigators executed a search warrant on Townsend's home.
During the search, deputies found marijuana, suspected fentanyl, and paraphernalia.
Deputies said a concealed stolen gun was found in Townsend's car.
Townsend was arrested and taken to Alamance County Detention Center.
Townsend is charged with:
- 1 count of Felony Assault with a deadly weapon on a government official
- 1 count of Felony Assault inflicting serious injury on Law Enforcement
- 1 count of Felony Possession of a stolen firearm
- 1 count of Misdemeanor Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, distribute Marijuana,
- 1 count of Felony possession of schedule II-controlled substance
- 1 count of Misdemeanor Carry a Concealed Weapon
- 1 count of Misdemeanor Possession of marijuana paraphernalia
- 2 counts of Misdemeanor Possession of drug paraphernalia
His bond is set at $350,000.
