RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A parent was arrested Wednesday with embezzlement of financial records at a Randolph County school in September, according to deputies.

Deputies said Julie McNeill, 52, was the treasurer for the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Uwharrie Charter Elementary School in Asheboro. School officials reported suspicious activity involving the PTO after an internal audit of the financial records.

Investigators uncovered evidence that substantiated the school's findings and identified McNeill as the suspect.

Detectives sought a warrant for Felony Embezzlement, which was granted by the Randolph County magistrates office.

McNeill was taken to the Randolph County Detention Center and was imposed a $20,000 bond.

This investigation is ongoing.
