HIGH POINT, N.C. — Two men were arrested after a robbery and carjacking that led to a police chase in High Point late Wednesday, police say.

Officers responded to the robbery at an ATM and carjacking on Eastchester Drive around 10:46 p.m.

The victim was approached by two males while he was taking cash out at the Cash Points ATM. Both suspects got out of a black Mazda that was parked near the ATM and pointed pistols at the victim while demanding his money and his keys.

The victim handed over the money he had just withdrawn from the ATM and the keys to his gray, 1994 Lexus 400.

Police said the two men then stole the car and drove off, turning right onto Eastchester Drive toward Wendover Avenue.

The suspects' car followed the stolen Lexus onto Eastchester Drive. Officers found it on Wendover Avenue and Gisbourne and a short chase happened.

Police said the stolen Lexus had mechanical issues, and the suspects were unable to keep it on the road causing them to crash on Wendover Avenue near Riverbend Road.

The driver of the stolen car was identified as 23-year-old Nolan Abrams. He was pulled from the car and arrested.

Abrams faces multiple charges including Assault by Pointing a Gun.

The passenger, identified as 23-year-old Xavier Hibbler, ran away from the scene and was then found by a police K9 officer.

Hibbler still had the stolen money when he was arrested. He had an obvious injury to his knee due to the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He was released the same day.

Police said Hibbler faces multiple charges including robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Both weapons used in the robbery were recovered with the car. Abrams and Hibbler received no bond for their charges and were taken to High Point Jail.

Police said the third suspect driving the black Mazda remains at large.

This investigation is ongoing.
