WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Two men have been arrested in connection with a kidnapping and murder in Winston-Salem, police say.
Khalil Nikyell Hill, 24, and Amir Zion Baker, 17, have been arrested. Both individuals face charges of felony General Murder, two felony counts of First-Degree Kidnapping, and felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
With recent changes in state law effective December 1, 2024, Amir Zion Baker, though a minor, has been charged as an adult.
The WSPD is withholding booking photos at this time to preserve the integrity of ongoing investigative efforts.
Around noon on Thursday, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 3600 block of Yarbrough Avenue.
Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Emanuel Bacilio, who had died from a gunshot wound. A second victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical care before being transported to a local hospital. The identity of the second victim remains confidential.
Investigators determined that Bacilio had been on Bainbridge Drive earlier that day, where he was confronted by three unidentified suspects wearing dark clothing.
He was kidnapped and transported to Yarbrough Avenue, where the shooting happened.
This investigation is ongoing.
