GREENSBORO, N.C. — There are additional charges against the son of Ryan Routh, who is the suspect in an assassination attempt against President-elect Donald Trump in September.
Court documents reveal a second superseding indictment was filed against Oran Alexander Routh on Nov. 25.
In late September, Routh was arrested on federal charges relating to child pornography. When he was arrested, he had two charges of possessing and receiving child sexual abuse material.
Routh now faces a total of five charges against him.
The newly added charges include transporting child pornography, possessing child pornography involving a minor who was not yet 12 years old, and another charge of receiving child pornography.
In early October, Routh pled not guilty in federal court to the first two charges and was later released.
Routh was arrested after authorities searched his house in Greensboro. Law enforcement officials and investigators seized multiple electronic devices, where they found hundreds of files of child pornography material.
Court documents show that Routh’s trial may start in January.
There are several previous court records for Routh in both Guilford and Wake counties, including traffic violations, assaulting a woman, simple possession, and hit and runs.
