THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Thursday, Kristin Billings, the woman accused of stabbing her grandparents was taken into custody.
She was located in Archdale after police said, a customer at a local Sheetz, recognized her from shared social media posts and recent news reports.
The customer alerted store employees who contacted law enforcement.
Archdale officers responded but Billings was not there when they arrived, police say she got a ride from someone.
However, witnesses got a good description of the car she left in and police were able to find the vehicle and arrest her.
She is being held at the Davidson County jail under a $500,000 bond.
This is for being accused of stabbing both her grandparents on Tuesday.
The 73-year-old and a 75-year-old married couple were taken to the hospital and at last check were in stable condition.
Police said Billings hid her grand parent's cell phones prior to leaving the home so they couldn't call the police.
Dwayne Lenier lives in the neighborhood and was familiar with the elderly couple.
He said Billings didn't live at the home and that the couple was just trying to help their granddaughter through a rough time.
"They loved her and they were trying to help her through it I think the worst part of it is she didn't just do something to them it's the whole family affected," Lenier said. " Her life is forever altered and she's forever altered her relationship with everyone in her family because of what she did."
WFMY News 2's Itinease McMiller spoke with Billing's family briefly. They're still in shock and aren't ready to speak.
Unfortunately, family abuse and violence are not uncommon.
Beth Mccollum is the manager of the Family Justice Center. She said they work with abuse and violence victims every day.
Of the people they serve on a yearly basis about 13,000 of them are there because of a family member.
"Our work is really trying to interrupt some of those lasting consequences to ensure that kids are not in homes where they've experienced violence and making sure that they're getting connected to different pathways for hope and healing," Mccollum said.
Detectives have charged Billings with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and interfering with 911 communication.
