THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A Thomasville mother is behind bars after police said her 2-year-old daughter overdosed on fentanyl.
Police said it happened Thursday afternoon at a home on E. Guilford Street. The mother called 911 and said she was sitting on the couch watching TV with her daughter when she walked away for a few minutes. The mother reported that when she returned, she found her daughter slumped over and blue in the face.
Davidson County EMS revived the child by administering Narcan. Police said the girl was taken to Thomasville Medical Center where she tested positive for fentanyl. She was later released.
The girl and her 5-year-old brother are with a family member pending an investigation.
Police found drug residue and paraphernalia inside the home. They charged 33-year-old Brittany Parrish with felony child abuse. She has a court date of June 12.
