Marissa Carmichael a High Point mother of five is still missing

Family and friends gathered in Greensboro at her last known location on East Market Street.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Family and friends of 25-year-old Marissa Carmichael led a search party Saturday afternoon.

The High Point woman has been missing for about three weeks after she was last seen in Greensboro.

The search party walked blocks while holding signs and chanting throughout the streets.

Marissa's mother, Sara Carmichael said each day it becomes harder to understand how her daughter is still missing.

"It just still doesn't seem real and there are moments that it is too real," she said.

Marissa Carmichael is a mother of five, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. Her family said she never returned home after a night out.

"There's no reason for her to leave, she would never do something like this. I know for a fact she would want to come home and be with her family and her children," sister Emma Villegas said.

Police told WFMY News 2 that Marissa Carmichael was last seen at an Exxon Gas station on Jan. 14 on East Market Street. That night, she made a cryptic call to 911.

"He told me to come into the store, he took off on me and I don't know where I'm at," Carmichael told the operator.

"He took my phone, I don't have my phone," she said "In order for me to get back home I don't have any of my contacts."

The family believes Carmichael was robbed, left at the Exxon gas station, and hitched a ride with someone else. Her mother believes surveillance video could clear up unanswered questions.

"I would like to see the video from the Exxon where she was taken," Carmichael said.

The search party flooded the gas station searching for those answers but left empty-handed.

Some members passed out flyers and talked to people who lived in the surrounding area.

GPD said this investigation is ongoing and has not shared if they have a person of interest in this case.
