GRAHAM, N.C. — The Graham Police Department is looking for the two people who damaged a total of ten cars at the County Ford dealership on March 5.
The vandalism happened around 2:13 a.m.
A silver four-door Honda Civic pulled into the parking lot of County Ford in Graham and two people got out and damaged a total of ten cars.
This comes two months after someone stole three cars off the lot totaling $226,000.
"I do know it's been happening at dealerships literally all across the state," said Criminal Investigations Captain, Dwayne Flood.
Mountain Mitsubishi in Hickory, North Carolina dealt with something similar almost a week ago where thieves took $450,000 worth of cars.
It's something dealership owners are hearing about from each other more often.
"Without question, we are 45 miles from Charlotte and it's been hitting them quite a bit. It's a lot it's every weekend I think they're getting two or three dealerships," said Mountain Mitsubishi owner, Brian Vonderheide.
Over here in the Triad, we know this story all too well.
Surveillance video caught thieves breaking into Capital Chevrolet Buick GMC of Lexington back in February. $300,000 worth of new cars were stolen.
Later that month, police arrested three teens and two children after breaking into Carolina Hyundai in High Point.
Just last week, suspects took two cars from Rocky Mount Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT.
In the last month alone, car lot thefts totaled more than a million dollars.
As far as the vandalism at County Ford in Graham, investigators say they have a strong lead they are pursuing and should have an identity of the suspects within the coming days.
