WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem police have arrested seven people in connection to multiple crimes following an extensive investigation.
Officers said they started investigating multiple incidents involving suspected or validated gang members. They arrested five people and charged seven who were connected to 16 separate criminal offenses in Winston-Salem from May 2023 to February 2024.
Out of the seven that were charged, five of them were juveniles, according to police.
The cases are now cleared but consisted of mainly guns related to multiple offenses including shootings, discharging guns, and possession of stolen guns in addition to larceny of motor vehicle and vandalism.
Two guns were seized and numerous rounds of ammunition. The group faces a total of 88 criminal charges.
Police said 19-year-old Juan David Agama Noyola was arrested and faces 54 charges including encouraging gang participation in a minor. He was given a bond of $300,000.
Police also arrested 18-year-old David Barrios Olivera and charged him with multiple charges including discharging a firearm in the city limits. He is currently being held in a detention center on unrelated charges.
Four of the juveniles are also facing multiple charges and were given a custody order. A juvenile petition was sought for one of them.
