HIGH POINT, N.C. — Two teenagers are facing felony drug and gun charges after a traffic stop in High Point Thursday.
Around 4:12 p.m., detectives with High Point Police Department's Street Crimes Unit pulled over a vehicle with fake temporary tags on the 1600 block of Brockett Avenue for speeding.
Detectives said the driver and a passenger got out of the car and started to walk away, but they were detained at the scene.
When officers searched the teens and the vehicle, they found two semi-automatic handguns, including one with an extended magazine, ammunition, and 98 grams of marijuana.
Police said the 16-year-old driver and the 14-year-old passenger were each charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, carrying a concealed gun, possession of a handgun by a minor, and conspiracy to sell/deliver marijuana. The driver was also charged with traffic violations.
A secure custody order was granted for both suspects and they were taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
