Moore County Sheriff's Office looking for man wanted in Taylortown shooting

TAYLORTOWN, N.C. — The Moore County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man they believe is responsible for a shooting in Taylortown early Sunday morning.

Deputies responded to the 1200 block of Juniper Lake Road in Taylortown at 1:36 a.m. Sunday and found a 26-year old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower leg. The victim was transported to Moore Regional Hospital for treatment, according to authorities.

After taking over the investigation from the Taylortown Police Department, investigators for Moore County obtained a warrant to arrest Dectrek Kochevse Dontrai Barrett in connection with the shooting. Barrett is still on the run after fleeing the scene Sunday morning.
