DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A man is dead after a deputy-involved shooting in Davidson County February 17th.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said they were attempting to arrest a wanted fugitive near Wilson and Ed Richard Road in the Linwood area.
As four deputies were trying to take the suspect into custody, they say the suspect took out a gun and pointed it at them.
Investigators said when deputies saw the gun they fired at the suspect who died on the scene.
WFMY News 2 is working to find out how many deputies actually fired shots at the suspect.
The sheriff's office said they are not releasing the name of the suspect at this time.
All four deputies are ok, according to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office.
For several hours investigators stayed on the property, as police tape surrounded an entire home for evidence collection.
It's not clear if the deputies involved are on administrative duty. The Sheriff's office said they are not sharing the names of the deputies involved at this time.
SBI has been contacted to handle the investigation.
The investigation is still ongoing.
