Store clerk stabbed multiple times after asking for I.D. for tobacco purchase, police say

MADISON, North Carolina — A suspect accused of stabbing a store clerk multiple times in Madison has been arrested, according to police.

The Madison Police Department said they received a call about a stab victim at the Valero on 213 S. Market St. 

When officers arrived, they said the victim was found with several stab wounds and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. 

After an investigation, detectives said the clerk asked the suspect for their identification for a tobacco purchase which they believed led to the stabbing.

Madison police said Jacob Mckinley Lowe was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. 

He wasn't given a bond during the time of his arrest.
