GIBSONVILLE, N.C. — A man was arrested after a nearly three-hour standoff where he threatened to shoot deputies on Sunday, June 16, 2024, according to the Alamance County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said they went to the 4200 block of Jug House Road at 12:08 p.m. to serve warrants on the resident.
Allen Lloyd Lewis was wanted for two counts of communicating threats and an Order for Arrest for absconding from felony probation, according to deputies.
Deputies said that after several attempts to contact Lewis inside the residence, he exited the back door and allegedly threatened to shoot the deputies if they did not get off the property.
He then retreated back inside, deputies said.
Deputies said they called him on the phone and attempted to get him to come outside.
Lewis allegedly continued to threaten to shoot the deputies and would not exit his home.
According to deputies, they were aware he had barricaded himself inside his home. They requested additional support from the Criminal Investigation Division, Special Response Team, Crisis Negotiator and others that were not listed.
He still refused to come outside, deputies said.
After the Special Response Team arrived, law enforcement said they were able to enter the residence.
Lewis was taken into custody around 2:48 p.m. on Sunday.
Deputies searched his home and found 5 firearms as well as multiple types of ammunition.
Lewis was charged with the following:
- 3 counts of Misdemeanor Communicating threats against Officers
- 3 counts of Misdemeanor Communicating threats
- 1 count of Felony Possession of a firearm by a convicted Felon
- 1 count of Misdemeanor Resist, Delay, Obstruct a public officer
- 1 count of Felony Order For Arrest Failure to appear
- 1 count of Felony Probation Violation
