WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A recent history of violence has caused a Winston-Salem bar owner to turn in their liquor license, according to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.
Spott Bar owner Kerry Greene Jr., of Winston-Salem, voluntarily handed in his ABC license to the ALE.
It comes after two violent events that happened at 3533 N. Glenn Ave.
On Nov. 4, Winston-Salem police said they are still investigating a murder that happened at Spott.
Then on Nov. 26, five people were shot, including a woman at the bar. Police said another person was grazed and two others suffered from cuts and lacerations from glass while trying to crawl out of the bar during the shooting.
“This incident highlights the dangers that can exist when firearms are present at alcohol establishments,” said Chess McQueen, ALE Special Agent in Charge. “ALE special agents prioritize these investigations with the goal of achieving public safety and the prevention of further violence.”
Anyone with any information about either event can call Winston-Salem police at 336-773-7700 or Crime Stoppers at 336-727-2800.
