Deputies at Southeastern Randolph Middle School following social media threat

The sheriff's office said they were made aware of the threat this morning.

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office investigated a possible social media threat against Southeastern Randolph Middle School this morning.

The incident is described as a "threat of school violence." According to a release, the source of the threat was identified, and law enforcement intervened shortly thereafter. There's currently no word on if the person who wrote the threat was a student as they've not been identified.

Law enforcement will remain on the school's campus for the rest of the day. Officials said parents were made aware of the threat.
