GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — The suspects who were charged in the 2023 shooting of Greensboro's Sgt. Phillip Dale Nix have been indicted on some of their charges by a grand jury, according to Guilford County court documents.
Back in Dec. 2023, investigators said Sgt. Nix was off-duty when he allegedly saw 18-year-old Jamere Foster and 28-year-old James Morrison stealing beer from the Sheetz. Police said Nix tried to stop them, and that’s when Foster allegedly shot him multiple times.
The two men then took off with 18-year-old Z’quriah Blackwell, who was allegedly waiting in a car, according to police.
WFMY News 2 obtained the indictment records of all three suspects.
Foster was indicted for first-degree murder and on a robbery with a dangerous weapon charge.
Blackwell was indicted on a felony charge of accessory after the fact of first-degree murder.
Morrison was also indicted for first-degree murder.
This is just a procedural maneuver by the superior court.
We haven't learned when the three suspects will be back in court.
