WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Two men were arrested after two men were shot near an apartment complex in Winston-Salem Tuesday, according to police.
The Winston-Salem Police Department said they were called 7 Salem Gardens Drive right before 1:00 p.m. about a shooting.
When officers arrived, they said they found 42-year-old Douglas Fredrick Shaw with a gunshot wound near the leasing office of Salem Garden Apartments. While at the same time, officers said they found 19-year-old Tamji Mallory in a nearby vehicle with a gunshot wound as well.
Winston-Salem police said EMS took both victims to a local hospital where they were both treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
After an investigation, detectives identified and arrested 25-year-old Stephon Albright and 22-year-old Mekeal Binns as the suspects in this shooting.
Police said Binns was charged with the following:
- Two counts of Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury
- Discharging from Within an Enclosure
- PWISD Marijuana
- Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
Winston-Salem police said Albright was charged with the following as well:
- Two counts of Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury
- Discharging from Within an Enclosure
- Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
This is an active investigation. The Winston-Salem Police Department's Violent Firearms Investigation Team has assumed the investigation.
