WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Editor's Note: The video above is from a previous story about a Winston-Salem group working to stop violent crime.
A suspect was shot and killed during a robbery in Winston-Salem, according to police.
The Winston-Salem Police Department said it happened on the 3600 block of Heathrow Drive on Oct. 6. Investigators said 40-year-old Steven Wayne Weier and 44-year-old Jeffrey Howard Smith entered a home and robbed the individuals inside at gunpoint.
In self-defense, police said one of the individuals pulled out a gun and shot Weier.
Police said Weier died later from his injuries.
Police said Smith was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and received a $7,500 bond.
