ZANESVILLE, Ohio — A Randolph County man was arrested in Ohio last week after authorities say he made threats to kill an ex-girlfiend, according to the Zanesville Police Department.

According to the Zanesville PD, they received information from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office on Oct. 2 that Jamie Johnson was traveling from Asheboro to Zanesville after communicating the threats.

Deputies say they received credible information that Johnson was traveling to Ohio with multiple firearms.

Officials say they discovered that Johnson switched vehicles on his way to Zanesville. Ofter obtaining a description of the vehicle, officers were able to track it down and conduct a traffic stop.

During the stop, Johnson was taken into custody without incident. Officers say they found numerous firearms and other weapons located in the vehicle to "corroborate the validity of the threat."

Johnson was charged by the Muskingum County Prosecuter's Office with four felony counts of menacing by stalking (firearm specification), one felony count of violating a protection order (firearm specification), four felony counts of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and one felony count of attempted murder.

Johnson is currently being held at the Zanesville City Jail with a $1 million bond. He was arraigned in Zanesville Municipal Court on Monday.
