RALEIGH, N.C. — A prisoner was found after stealing a pickup truck from his work site location in Raleigh on Friday, according to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.

NC officials said 41-year-old Ronnie Dwayne East (offender #0759613) was captured around 5:10 p.m. on Ramsey Julian Road in Liberty in the nearby woods, after he was discovered missing around 3:15 p.m. from a warehouse at 200 Leagan Drive.

Detectives said a search revealed he had stolen a state-owned 2023 white, four-door Ford F-150 pickup with no plates from the site.

East is a minimum-custody offender serving a four-year sentence at Wake Correctional Center for breaking and entering and larceny in Randolph County.

Officials said East will be taken to another correctional facility and will face escape and vehicle theft charges.

He was scheduled for release in July 2026.
